On March 11 and 12, 2023, the training workshop for trainers in Environmental Education organized by the El Moustapha Consulting Office was held at the PND premises in Bouhajra. It took place under the presence of the basic education inspector of the Moughataa of Keur macéne, the Conservative of the PND and brought together 25 teachers from the Municipality of N'Diago.
During this training six modules were provided and concern aspects linked among others to biodiversity in the PND, awareness of the most important international conventions (CBD, UNCCC, Abidjan CONVENTION, CCNULCD, etc.), and on the protection and sustainable management of the environment and natural resources.
The ecosystem services provided by the Park such as fishing, breeding, gathering and market gardening were also discussed in order to show the links between the exploitation of the environment and its conservation.
A field trip was organized to allow teachers to put theoretical knowledge into practice and visit two hydrological works to explain the importance of artificial water management within internal basins to guarantee the maintenance of aquatic biodiversity for animals and plants in the PND.
This training made it possible to further and sustainably improve the knowledge of teachers in the conservation of species and habitats, in water management and sustainable natural resources, in the management of desertification and bush fires and finally in the management of waste. And this sharing the knowledge received by students and the local population with a view to better management of resources for present and future generations.
This training is part of the implementation of the PND environmental education program
