PND discovery offer
The PND as part of the reboot Med project aimed at encouraging the public-private partnership to co-define blue economy action plans for the revival of the tourism sector offers PND discovery excursions;
Different activities are offered to visitors to the Park to allow them to discover the richness of this protected area, unique in Mauritania.
Discovery of a site among the last in Mauritania and West Africa where we still find ancestral knowledge of a unique cultural heritage for the manufacture by women of traditional mats from plants typical of the area with respect total nature with local products.
This immersion is aimed in particular at people passionate about discovering the ancestral knowledge and know-how of coastal and indigenous communities and taking an adventure in a natural site.
Period : Between November and March
Duration: 5 days
Number of people : 4 to 12 people
During this tour, the following discoveries are offered:
Day 1 :
- Arrival in Nouakchott
Day 2 :
Morning:
- Departure from Nouakchott in the morning and arrival in Bouhajra at Diawling National Park around 12 p.m.
- Lunch
Afternoon :
- Birdwatching and warthog observation
- Discovery of the wild life of warthogs
3 day:
Morning:
- attend the fishing activity with the fishermen in wooden kayaks and drying method in the work of Cheyal and Lemer
- capture of freshwater and brackish fish by nets and its transformation using traditional drying techniques in the works of Cheyal and Lemer
Afternoon:
- Attend the mat weaving operation
- Use of the stems of the plant typical of the lower delta zone to make very good quality mats
4 day:
Morning
- Walk in the river to visit the islands, observe birds and see the mangrove
- Discover the beauty of the islands and flood basins full of birds
- Lunch on the islands
Afternoon
- Visit to Kahra beach and dunes
- Discover the Beauty of the virgin beach of the Kahra area where the river, the ocean and the mangrove meet
5 Day:
Morning:
- Discovery of ecological mangrove restoration experiences
- Discovery of the history of the Diama dam
Afternoon
- Return to Nouakchott
