From January 13 to 16, 2023, the Diawling National Park carried out the International count of waterbirds in the park and its peripheral RBTDS zone on the right bank. This operation aims to know the global numbers of migratory waterbirds, to determine the dynamics and trends between countries and to contribute to monitoring the state of habitats as well as the distribution of populations and their developments. The count was carried out in 10 circuits to cover the majority of the park, notably the islands and the interior of the basins.
The 2023 count gave a number of 115243 individuals for 110 species of water birds.
